FSD Africa is a specialist development agency working to help make finance work for Africa’s future. Based in Nairobi, FSD Africa’s team of  fiscal sector experts work alongside governments, business leaders, regulators, and policymakers to design and build ambitious programmes that make financial markets work better for everyone. Our investment arm, FSD Africa Investments, provides early- stage, risk- bearing, catalytic and patient capital to inventive  marketable organisations in order to stimulate capital flows in support of green  profitable growth benefiting people and planet. Established in 2012, FSD Africa is incorporated as anon-profit company limited by guarantee in Kenya. It's funded by UK aid from the UK government.

FSD Africa internship program’s purpose is to provide participants with an excellent opportunity to gain work- place experience, expand knowledge, refine career goals and build professional networks, mentors and contacts.  

Position 2: Intern  

PILLAR Capital Markets  

Roles and Responsibilities

Duties will include but aren't limited to support the Capital Markets work in Ethiopia & Morocco as follows;  

• Providing support for general research on Ethiopia/ Morocco’s macroeconomic context and specific research on FSD Africa’s programme portfolio and channel.  

• Providing inputs to project concept notes, proposals, terms of reference, project briefs and reports.  

• Supporting the implementation of the Capital Markets Communications Plan to increase the visibility of the Pillar. This will include supporting the drafting of blogs, articles, press releases, and announcements as requested  

• Providing logistical or specialized support for conferences, events, forums and team engagements.  

• Assisting with  functional tasks similar as procurement, finance, and implementation of the ERP  

• sharing in applicable meetings, taking meeting notes and supporting the follow up of agreed actions.  

• Supporting knowledge management activities within the pillar, including supporting team members in updating applicable databases and trackers  

• Any other duties allocated by the supervisor  

Qualifications  

• Have completed at least four years of a full- time undergraduate degree in finance, economics, statistics, international development or climate science, with excellent academic performance  

• Must be of Ethiopian or Moroccan Nationality  

Skills and Competencies  

• Proficiency in written and spoken English  

• complete in standard computer software applications. Knowledge of statistical softwares is an added advantage.  

• Demonstrated keen interest in working in the development or financial sector  

• Demonstrated capability to successfully interact with  individualities of different artistic backgrounds and beliefs and to uphold and live the core values of FSD Africa 

• Organisational, interpersonal communication skills and excellent attention to detail  

• Ability to prioritise jobs effectively and thecross-functional teams on the project  

• Energy, enthusiasm and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and demanding targets  

• Professional work experience not  needed but will be an added advantage.
