Position: Transport director
The main purpose of the job
- To oversee the day- to- day handling of the British Embassy transport section, furnishing a quality and effective service to staff and stakeholders in compliance with British government programs procedures.
Roles and responsibilities
- Plan, organized, and directed the administration of the British Embassy transport requirements, and staff duty rosters including vehicle fleet management and deployment.
- Implement and monitor the delivery of the Embassy transport policy.
- Manage and supervise the Deputy Transport Manager and a pool of drivers.
- Make sure the team has development goals set, and their performance is evaluated accordingly.
- Prepare and monitor periodic/ daily budgets for the transport team, prudently managing, authorizing, recording, and regularly reporting on all expenditure
- Ensure effective and effective management of all resources, vehicle replacements, servicing, spares, and fuel stocks.
- Close supervision of the sanctioned pool of vehicles, ensuring valid documentation, proper maintenance, driver competence, and adherence to health, safety, and security regulations.
- Central point of contact for liaising and communicating with colorful customers, and internal and external partners on all transport- related matters.
- Negotiated with commercial partners (dealers, garages, insurance agents, fuel suppliers) to ensure VFM for HMG on all transport- related purchases and contracts.
- Plan and coordinate logistical arrangements for VIP visits and up- country journeys.

Management of armored and soft-bearded vehicles, diesel fuel, and vehicle spare parts stocks
Management of an estimated£ 140k functional running cost budget
Essential qualifications, skills, and experience
5 years of experience in Transport or Logistics management roles.
Experience in managing a large team to deliver a quality service in a high- pressure environment.
Fluent in English and Amharic
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong negotiation skills
Budgeting and Financial management experience
Must hold a valid 3rd- grade/ original driving license
Desirable qualifications, skills, and experience
Applicable educational qualifications (Business and Logistics related Degree or Professional Qualification)
