United Nations Economic Commission for Africa( UNECA) invites qualified applicants for the following job positions. ECA’s mission is to deliver ideas and actions for an empowered and transformed Africa; informed by the 2030 SDGs and Agenda 2063. The mission is guided by ECA’s five new strategic directions which are advancing ECA’s position as a premier knowledge institution that builds on its unique position and privilege to bring global solutions to the mainland’s problems and take original results to the mainland; developing macroeconomic and structural policy options to accelerate advantageous diversification and job creation; designing and enforcing innovative financing models for infrastructure, and for human, physical, and social means for a transforming Africa; contributing solutions to indigenous and transboundary challenges, with a focus on peace security and social inclusion as an important development nexus; advocating Africa’s position at the global level and developing indigenous responses as a donation to global governance issues. 

Position 1 Executive Assistant, G- 6  

Education A high academy diploma or equivalent is required. The minimum number of years of applicable experience is reduced to five years for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or advanced.  

Work Experience A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in executive work, conference servicing, general office support, or related areas is required. Experience in form and using office outfits is required. 

Experience working for senior officers in an international association is desirable. Within delegated authority, the executive Assistant will be responsible for the  ensuing duties

Initiate, review, process, and follow up on conduct related to the administration of the section’s/ unit’s mortal resource activities,e.g., recruitment of staff and advisers, placement, promotion, relocation, performance appraisal, job classification reviews, separation of staff members, training, etc., ensuring consistency in the application of UN rules and procedures.  

Language English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required; and knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another sanctioned United Nations language is an advantage.  

Position 2 Programme Management Assistant, G- 6  

Education High school diploma or equivalent is required.  

Work Experience At least seven (7) years of experience in program or project administration, specialized cooperation, or a related area is required. The minimal years of applicable experience are reduced to five( 5) years for applicants who possess a first-level university degree or advanced. Practical One year or further of experience in data analytics or related areas is desirable. 

Experience in executive services, human resources, or related areas is desirable. This position is in the Office of the Chief, Publication and Conference Management Section (PCMS), and the Publication, Conference and Knowledge Management Division (PCKMD). The Programme Management Assistant will work under the general supervision of the Director of PCKMD and the direct supervision of the Chief of the Section.  

Language English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and spoken English is required. Knowledge of another sanctioned United Nations language is an advantage.
