• Creating and editing documents using word processors  

• Designing engaging presentations with slideshows  

• Managing data and information with spreadsheets and search tools  

• Conducting virtual meetings and classes using videoconferencing

How do I access the course after I've enrolled?  

On a desktop or laptop computer  

1. Log in to your free TeachingEnglish account.  

2. However, you'll see ‘ MY LEARNING ’ in the menu bar at the top of the page next to the Home button, If you have enrolled in the course.  

3. Move your mouse over MY LEARNING to see the drop- down menu.  

4. Click on ‘ My courses’ to access your training.  

On a mobile device  

1. Log in to your free TeachingEnglish account.  

2. Tap the three horizontal lines next to the home button to open the menu.  

3. Below ‘Home’, you'll see MY LEARNING and ‘ My courses ’ below. Tap on MY LEARNING if you do n’t see ‘ My courses ’.  

4. Tap on ‘ My courses ’ to access your training.  

About the course  

Key Digital Skills is a free six- week self- study training course designed for teachers of English who want to develop their digital skills and learn how to use technology to enhance their tutoring.The course is divided into four modules.  

Module 1 Using Word Processors  

The  end of this module is to help you learn how to effectively work with word processing programs  similar as Microsoft Word or Google Docs.  

By the end of this module, you'll be suitable to  

• improve computer efficiency through using screenshots and formatting techniques to  produce visually appealing teaching materials  

• create error-free teaching materials and partake them in both Word and PDF formats

Module 2 Using slideshows

The objective of this module is to assist you in developing captivating and  poignant presentations using slideshow programs like PowerPoint or Google Slides, allowing you to enhance your teaching skills and engage your students better.  

By the end of this module, you'll be  suitable to  

• improve computer efficiency  

• create engaging and effective slideshows for classroom use  

Module 3 Using Spreadsheets & Search  

The aim of this module is to instruct you on the effective utilisation of spreadsheet programs, similar as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, for managing and tracking your students’ grades and test results.  

By the end of this module, you'll be suitable to  

• create and use a marks sheet in Microsoft Excel for effective data exploration and statistical calculation.  

• improve search engine chops by finding desired information easily and using private search engines for enhanced security.  

Module 4 Videoconferencing  

The aim of this module is to teach you how to effectively use videoconferencing tools  similar as Zoom to conduct online classes and engage with your students virtually.  

By the end of this module, you'll be suitable to  

• understand and compare different VC platforms, and identify their features.  

• plan and conduct engaging and interactive online classes using VC tools  similar as screen sharing, breakout rooms, participation activities, and troubleshooting common problems.  

Course format  

This is a self- access course with light moderating via WhatsApp.  

Start dates and duration:

The course begins on 11 May 2023 and lasts for six weeks.

Each module involves approximately three hours of study.

Free Certificates For participants who successfully complete 100 of all tasks in the online exercises, there will be a downloadable certificate of completion at the end of the course.
