The role of the Embassy of Portugal in Addis Ababa is to advance the interests of Portugal and Portuguese communities in its area of jurisdiction, which covers Ethiopia, Rwanda, Djibouti, Somalia, and South Sudan. It involves political representation in bilateral and multinational spheres, working with other Portuguese agencies to drive development cooperation, enhancing the promotion of the Portuguese Language and Culture, and helping Portuguese travelers and Portuguese overseas.
Position 1 Executive Officer
About the Position and Key Liabilities The Technical Superior is responsible for supporting the Embassy’s executive work, namely accounting and procurement, as well as liaising with the Ethiopian counterparts in matters related to the management of the Embassy. The Executive Assistant is also expected to support tasks in the Consular Section of the Embassy, with proper supervision.

Job Requirements
Qualifications/ Experience
• General requirements for civil service under the Portuguese Law;
• Being the holder of a diploma of Secondary Education or original certificate. Having fresh academic background and professional experience in the areas of Public Administration, Law, and Economics is preferable;
• Being a resident in Ethiopia, notwithstanding the possibility of proof of occupancy to be provided after contracting;
• Having regularized tax and social security situations with the original authorities;
• Fluency in English. Knowledge of Portuguese is preferable. Necessary Documents for Application

• Proof of Residence;

Position 2 Executive Officer
About the Position and Crucial Responsibilities The Technical Superior is responsible for supporting the Embassy’s work in the aforementioned domains, videlicet in the political and consular, as well as representation of the Embassy in technical coordination bodies, at the original level and with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal. The applicant can expect to support political work on the bilateral sphere, as well as to cover the international organizations to which the Embassy is accredited, namely the African Union( AU), United Nations Economic Commission for Africa( UNECA) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development( IGAD). The Technical Superior is also expected to support the executive tasks, as well as to assume responsibilities in the Consular Section of the Embassy, with proper supervision.
