The Ethiopian Academy of Sciences (EAS) is a non-profit, merit-based, and independent organization created by an Act of Parliament in 2013 (Proclamation No.
783/2013). The Academy aims to encourage scientific culture and innovation through providing policy advice based on scientific evidence, organizing public lectures, and promoting scientific discussion on current issues affecting society.

Position 1: Creative Art Center Assistant  

Qualifications  
• A bachelor's or master's degree in literature, folklore, theater art, journalism, film, music, fine arts, or related areas from a recognized university.

• At least two years of relevant work experience for those with a bachelor's degree, or relevant experience for those with a master's degree, with an interest in organizing events and participating in related activities.

Technical Skills and Competencies  
• Strong proficiency in both written and spoken English and Amharic.

• Computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet programs.

• Knowledge of Adobe applications.

• High standards of using professional and social media platforms for organization.

Position 2: IT Officer  

Qualifications  
• A Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Microelectronics, Computer Networks, Information Science, or Library and Information Science with a strong ICT background, or other related areas from a recognized university.

Experience  
• At least two years of relevant professional experience in IT, systems and network administration, programming, database administration, website management, technical support, or related fields.

Position 3: Science Center Assistant  

Qualifications  
• A bachelor's degree in physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or other science, technology, engineering, or related fields.

Experience  
• At least three to five years of relevant professional experience in science education, science communication, museums or science centers, STEM programs, research institutions, or related organizations.

Technical and Other Skills  
• Strong knowledge and interest in science, technology, STEM, and scientific discovery.

• Strong science communication and public speaking skills.

• Ability to explain complex scientific ideas in simple, engaging, and accessible language for different audiences.

• Strong skills in event planning, coordination, and organization.

• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, partnership, and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Creativity and the ability to develop interactive and innovative approaches to science education.

• Good computer skills, including MS Office and digital communication tools.

Position 4: HR and Administrative Officer  

Qualifications  
• A bachelor's degree in human resource management, management, business administration, public administration, organizational management, or other related fields.

Experience  
• Typically six years of relevant experience in human resources and/or administration.

• Demonstrated experience in human resources and administrative management.

• Proven experience in recruitment and selection, personnel administration, payroll management, employee relations, office administration, and general administrative support.

• Experience working with NGOs, research institutions, or similar organizations is an added advantage.

• Experience in developing and implementing HR policies, maintaining personnel records, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and organizational policies is desirable.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

• Experience with HR information systems (HRIS) or ERP systems is an asset.

Position 5: Science Center Director  

Qualifications  
• A PhD or MSc/MA in science, technology, health, agriculture, social sciences, or related areas.

Experience  
• Six to eight years of experience, with at least two years in a senior managerial position.

Technical and Other Skills  
• Ability to provide leadership, communicate effectively, and promote a team approach to enhance staff commitment and successfully implement the Science Center's strategic plan.

• Demonstrated technical and managerial ability, sound judgment, and the ability to interact and work effectively with others at all levels.

• Good knowledge of developments and issues in natural and social sciences.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to effectively liaise with public and private stakeholders.
