The European Union( EU) is an advantageous and political partnership between 27 European countries. It plays an important role in transnational affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid and working with global organizations. Abroad, the EU is represented through further than 140 politic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy.
Position: Driver
The EU Delegation to Ethiopia ensures
The tasks of the EU Presidency in Ethiopia’s host country;
The representation of the European Union to Ethiopia;
The follow- up of bilateral relations in the areas of political. Advantageous, trade and external assistance cooperation (financial & specialized)
The follow- up of EU policies in other sectors
The follow- up of EU policies to identify opportunities for synergies and/ or in- coherences between similar policies and poverty reduction in line with policy coherence for development (Art 208 TFEU)
Promotes and defends the values and interests of the EU
coordinates the work of the Member States’ Embassies, particularly in the fields of EU competences, notably trade and external assistance
Carries out CFSP (Common Foreign Security Policy) demarches as applicable; reports to Headquarters on all matters of interest for EU policies
Carries out press and public diplomacy activities in pursuit of the below
Ensures the long- term programming of aid and the management of programmes and devolved projects within the framework of the current reform of External Aid Management
Ensures implementation of the Communication on a stronger Partnership to deliver Market Access by means of request access brigades
Ensures the follow- up of EU programs in all sectors in particular the Communication on a stronger partnership to deliver Market Access by means of market access teams; provides any necessary support for visits by Members of the EEAS, Commission, Council and Parliament. Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the requirements of the Delegation. Upon reclamation, the successful seeker will enthrall the specific job function as a motorist.
The job function may be changed in accordance with the requirements of the delegation. Under this job function, the successful seeker
Shall serve as specialized support staff to provide dependable and safe driving services for staff and Callers
Delivery and collection of mails, documents and other items
Drives EU personnel to project sites including sanctioned site visits within and outside Addis Ababa
Ensures vehicle is kept in good condition at all times through addressing minor conservation repairs and making arrangements for major repairs
Timely change of oils, check tires, thickets, water levels, and auto washing
Meeting official personnel and visitors at the field
Assist staff in loading and unloading items, mail inventories and other equipment;
Give support during force work
Perform other assignments given by the Head of Administration.

Selection Criteria
Minimum Requirements
- Medically fit to perform the required duties
- Enjoys civil rights and permits for employment under original law;
- The seeker must possess a certificate of completion from secondary school and a minimum valid 3rd- grade driving license
- Minimum years of passenger vehicle driving experience with homemade and automatic transmissions;
- Good English language proficiency
- Microsoft Office introductory knowledge;
- suitable to provide excellent references.
The following will be considered an asset
- Certificate in Auto mechanics;
- introductory knowledge of IT tools
- Experience with politic missions and international organizations

The procedure
- After the deadline for applications, the applications will be reviewed by a Selection Committee set up for this purpose. The Selection Committee will prepare a shortlist of candidates who are considered to be the most suitable for the post on the basis of a primary assessment of the information provided in their application letter and the supporting documents.
- The short- listed candidates will be invited to an assessment phase, which will include a written test, a Practical test and an interview- during this phase, the Selection Committee will assess the suitability of the candidates for the post.
- The candidates who have n't been short- listed wo n't be contacted individually.
