UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories, supporting partner countries to achieve the eradication of poverty, the reduction of inequalities, and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals( SDGs). More specifically, UNDP supports partner countries in developing policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, and institutional capabilities, and building resilience to sustain development results. UNDP has operated in Ethiopia since 1981. Since also, UNDP has also focused on providing Ethiopia with strategic support to build public capacity and enhance the country’s development results in the areas of poverty reduction and profitable growth, popular governance, as well as climate-flexible development. UNDP would like to invite competent and interested candidates for the ensuing position.
Position: Intern – Governance And Rule Of Law
Education
Enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (similar as a master’s programme, or advanced) OR recently graduated with a first university degree( bachelor’s or original), in Governance, Peace and Security, Development Studies, Political Science, Sociology, Public Policy, Law, Human Rights, or related Social Science discipline is needed and, if named, must start the internship within one- year of graduation;
Experience: No professional work experience is required for applicants to the UNDP Internship Programme. Still, applicants should have a field of study closely related to the type of internship they're applying for.
Availability to work consecutively for 6 months.
Strong interest in original and international governance, peacebuilding, and rule of law-related issues.
Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other applicable software applications.
Knowledge and experience in communications, public relations, or a related role are advantageous.
Excellent written and verbal communication chops, with the ability to adapt messages for different cultures.
Strong copywriting, editing, and proofreading abilities, with keen attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with different teams and stakeholders.
Knowledge of the association’s sector or field of work would be desirable.
Language: Fluency in oral and spoken English is required.
Knowledge of French is desirable.
