JAY JAY TEXTILES PLC, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, are part of the 50- year-old JAY JAY group with factories in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Ethiopia. Started with our first factory in Ethiopia in 2014, we specialize in the manufacture of infant and baby wear clothing specifically for export to
USA. In our seven large factories at the Addis Ababa’s BOLE LEMI INDUSTRIAL PARK we undertake contract manufacturing on behalf of our Sri Lankan group company, Addis Ventures Private Limited, who are also our major shareholders.
Our main US customers are GERBER CHILDRENSWEAR, GARAN, CARTERS, THE CHILDRENS PLACE, etc. While our company exported over USD 80 Million from Ethiopia, our group combined exports from all four countries exceeded USD 350 Million during the last fiscal year. Being one of the largest garment employers here, we export nearly 25 of the garments exported from Ethiopia. We directly employ about 8800 persons, nearly 90 of them women.
The Ethiopian garment factory workers are totally dependent on these factories for their livelihood. With the withdrawal of Ethiopia’s AGOA facility, numerous factories are on the verge of closure. unfit to compete some have already closed and left the country. The women workers from far off villages are the most affected.
Position 1: Accountant
Education & Work Experience
• Degree in Accounting or Membership in professional accounting body
• 3 years’ experience in handling both original and foreign supplier payments in a Manufacturing organization.
• Experience in working with motorized accounting system.
• Knowledge of the Ethiopian Tax laws.
• Ability to work under pressure
Position 2: Jr. Planning Executive
Education & Work Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Garment Engineering or a related field
• A minimum of 2 years of applicable experience on the field in a factory.
Position 3: Merchandiser
Education & Work Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Merchandising, Textile Engineering or a related field
• A minimum of 3 years of applicable experience handling matters in an organization.
Position 4: Compliance & Legal Officer
Education & Work Experience
• Degree in Law with zero- year experience.
• Other field with Management, BA or other social fields minimum of 1 time’s experience in garment sector or in similar activity
• ISO Standard (14000 or 18000 or 9001) knowledge will be an added advantage.
Position 5: Senior HR Administrative
Education & Work Experience
• Degree/ Diploma in Human Resource Management, Management, Business Administration and other related fields
• 4- year experience/ 6 years’ direct applicable experience
• Excellent command of communication in English and Computer Literacy
• Ability of leadership and overall professional knowledge in HR- related activities.
• Candidates with production floor management experience would be advantageous.
