Safaricom Ethiopia is owned by an international institute including Vodafone Group; Safaricom PLC; Vodacom Group; Sumitomo Corporation – one of the largest international trading and business investment companies; and British International Investment( BII) – the UK’s development finance institution and impact investor.  We're pleased to announce the ensuing position within the Technology Function. In keeping with our current business requirements, we're looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.  

Position Media Buyer and Planner 

This position is responsible for executing the traditional media strategy for the CBU – brand, products, DFS, segments, Enterprise business unit, and other crucial BU’s of Safaricom.

  • Responsible for developing, monitoring, and reporting on the expenditure of the media- Opex.  

Key accountabilities and decision ownership 

  • Manage strategy and setup of all campaigns. 
  • Identify and understand the target audience for all campaigns. 
  • Analyze market trends and conduct dipstick research. 
  • Understand the Ethiopian media landscape including digital. 
  • Develop and maintain media station relations and ensure all stations and registered as Safaricom’s suppliers. 
  • Develop and manage media bookings and ensure all selected stations receive their schedules on time. 
  • Ensure media stations get their PO on time and follow up with campaign progress. 
  • Reconcile media orders and ensure stations are paid on time. 
  • Negotiate the stylish rate with stations and provide an effective plan for each BU. 
  • Provide recommendations and execute strategies for keyword opportunities, campaign structuring, targeting, display network, etc. 
  • Collaborate with the team to create high- quality content around important, applicable terms and maintain a harmonious voice across all programs. 
  • Support and manage the monitoring agency to track media performance, provide comprehensive reports, and ensure Safaricom is compensated. 
  • Research and test partnerships with new stations including indigenous to expand our reach and/ or lower our cost- per acquisition. 
  • Establish and maintain scalable processes that ensure stylish practices in campaign and lead management. 
  • Stay up to date with  rearmost trends and changes within Ethiopia media landscape to improve and optimize marketing team performance.
