The Bank’s development agenda is delivering financial and specialized support for transformative projects that will significantly reduce poverty through inclusive and sustainable economic growth. To sharply focus the objectives of the Ten Year Strategy (2023 – 2032) and ensure lesser experimental impact, five major areas (High 5s), all of which will accelerate our delivery for Africa, have been identified for scaling up, namely; energy,agro-business, industrialization, integration and improving the quality of life for the people of Africa.
Position 1 Driver
Including desirable skills, experience, and knowledge
Hold at least a High School Diploma;
Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean track record;
Possess any additional documentation and/ or certification to carry out the job;
Have the right to work in Ethiopia; Have a minimum of three (3) years of applicable experience as a driver in an international organization, or public or private sector organization;
Experience and skills in minor vehicle repairs, and routine maintenance for the vehicles;
Possess working knowledge of the rules and regulations involved in the safe and effective operation and maintenance of automotive equipment;
Demonstrated initiative; be discreet, honest, and have good character;
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills;
Good written and verbal communication skills in either French or English. Working knowledge of other languages will be an added advantage; as Competence in the use of standard Microsoft software. g. Microsoft Word and use of the Internet. The Driver will give dependable and safe driving services to the Deputy Director-General and perform office messenger duties.
Position 2 Senior Program Officer
Competencies (Qualifications, Experience & Skills) At least a Master’s degree or its original in economics, politics, transnational relations, pastoral/ development studies, law, management, or related social lores and interdisciplinary studies;
An excellent understanding of contemporary debates in political economy, broadly understood, both in Africa and elsewhere, informed by both orthodox and heterodox socioeconomic and political and/ or theory
Strong familiarity with the role of other development finance institutions in facilitating socioeconomic reform and addressing poverty reduction in developing countries;
Have a minimum of five (5) years of applicable professional experience in addressing challenges in developing countries, preferably gained in Indigenous, international, or international development agencies working in or in Africa or in public service;
Solid understanding of Indigenous integration and the workings of supranational organizations, (knowledge and/ or experience with the workings of the AU, African RECs, and other Indigenous mechanisms would be a plus);
Strong planning and organizational skills, including a proven ability to think strategically, seeing the big picture without immolating the details, proven negotiation skills and team building skills, as well as a believable ability to influence and present ideas;
Capacity to connect, understand, and influence stakeholders at all levels;
Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to handle the high-level demands of a complex, international, multilateral organization, including the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
Strong capacity to analyze actions from the perspectives of stakeholders, and to translate strategic thinking into compelling action plans;
Demonstrated ability to take prudent business risks and make effective, timely, and well-determined decisions;
Ability to plan and manage staff to achieve high-quality results and encourage innovation in an open team-based environment, inspiring trust and influencing, and resolving differences across organizational boundaries;
Impeccable oral and spoken communication skills in French or English, with a good working knowledge of the other language; and Competence in the use of Bank standard software applications (Office suites, Enterprise Resource Planning; Collaboration Suites).
Under the general guidance and supervision of the Lead Program Co-coordinator, the Senior Program Officer will perform the ensuing duties and responsibilities.
Position 3 Finance and Administrative Officer
Competencies( Qualifications, Experience & Skills) At least a Master’s degree in Accounting, Information Systems, Finance, or Business Administration. Membership in an internationally recognized professional accounting body (CA, CPA, ACCA, or their equivalents) would be an advantage.
A minimum of four (4) years of applicable experience in an accounting establishment or a transnational/ international financial organization, and fresh experience in a public or private sector organization would be an advantage Capacity to work effectively in a team.
Excellent communication skills( written and oral) in English or French, preferably with a working knowledge of the other language.
Competency in the use of Microsoft Office applications similar to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of SAP S/ R would be an advantage.
Position 4 Water & Sanitation Officer
Competencies (skills, experience, and knowledge) At least a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water and Sanitation Engineering, Water coffers Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or a related field with a focus on water security and sanitation A minimum of five (5) years of applicable professional working experience in water security and sanitation programming, project management, and policy formulation at the public level. In-depth knowledge and practical experiences with intertwined water resource management, climate change, and water governance modalities.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, conceptualize, and synthesize complex water security and sanitation sector issues( translated into effective oral and written briefs)
Knowledge of water security and sanitation, sector reforms, public-private partnerships, sector collaboration, innovative financing mechanisms, and poor strategies in the country
Experience in undertaking project cycle activities, particularly investment planning, identification, preparation, appraisal, and supervision of water security and sanitation sector infrastructure( including water supply and sanitation, dams, storehouses, water conveyance structures, irrigation, climate threat operation, etc.)
A clear understanding of the specialized and policy drivers of the water sector and the political economy of reforms.
Strong logical skills, in designing water sector operations, including climate risk assessments.
Ability to initiate innovative approaches and originality at work.
Professional experience in transnational development finance institutions and working experience in the region are preferred. Familiarity with the work of other multinational and bilateral development finance institutions
Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a multicultural environment sustain partnerships, and build effective working relations with clients and colleagues.
Problem-solving – Applies knowledge of once situation trends as applicable; generates and tests multiple hypotheses or explanations for a given situation.
customer exposure – Identifies customer requirements and business trends and proactively consults with them to deliver integrated, customized results.
Outstanding verbal and spoken communication skills in English; proficiency in other languages desirable.
Competence in the use of Bank standard software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
Knowledge of SAP is desirable.
