Development for Peace Organization (DPO) is an Ethiopian non-profit organization established in 2020 with a mission of striving to meet the humanitarian and experimental needs of societies regardless of race, color, religion, or artistic background. We're legally registered to work in Ethiopia (Reg. 5164) as a National NGO and as an INGO in South Sudan (Reg. 4178), Somalia (Reg. NGOD/ Moifar0422/ 022), and Kenya (OP. 218/051/22- 400/ 12732); it's also processing its registration in Yemen. We're currently seeking an educated Junior Medical Laboratory Technologists Technician to join our mission-driven organization.  

Position Junior Medical Laboratory Technologist Technician  

Education Diploma or bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory technology or Medical Laboratory Science from an accredited Institution/ university and also has an active certificate/ License to practice in Ethiopia.  

Experience Fresh Graduate for a degree or two years for a diploma. The medical laboratory technologist/ technician plays a crucial role in supporting patient diagnosis and treatment. He or she will perform a comprehensive range of laboratory examinations,  similar to hematology, parasitology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis, etc. He or she will also be responsible for collecting, processing, analyzing, and interpreting patient samples.  The medical laboratory technologist/ technician will also adhere to strict quality assurance and control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of these test results.  

Duties and Responsibilities 

Conduct a comprehensive range of clinical laboratory examinations, including hematology, parasitology, urinalysis, and clinical microscopy. This encompasses specimen collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation of results. 

Adheres to quality assurance and quality control procedures in performing all testing. 

Ensure the quality and accuracy of laboratory results through scrupulous quality assurance and control processes.   

Maintain peak performance of laboratory equipment by performing inspections,  preventative maintenance, calibrations, and proficiency testing. 

Specimens are checked as to their condition, acceptability, and appropriateness to the test and exceptions are noted. 

Manage all aspects of reagents, including initiating the need for procurement, inventory control, proper storage, and accuracy verification. 

Implement and manage a laboratory information management system( LIMS) – paper-based or electronic – to efficiently track and document laboratory procedures and results. 

Correlates clinical information and/ or former lab results and reports discrepancies to supervisors and other applicable personnel.  

Writes and updates laboratory standard operating procedures( SOPs) for laboratory tests, ensuring consistency and compliance with nonsupervisory standards under supervision as required. 

All critical values are reported promptly to the physician and charge nurse. 

Doesn't report patient results unless quality control data are within accepted parameters 

Shares call duty and work different shifts as required. Must be suitable to work extended hours when necessary. 

Keeps an acceptable supply of working materials on hand. 

Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
