Embassy of Ireland invites qualified applicants for the following job position. Ireland has enjoyed bilateral relations with Ethiopia since 1994, when its Embassy in Addis Ababa was first opened. Ireland’s engagement in Ethiopia is guided by the Government of Ireland’s general foreign policy which seeks to promote a more secure, just, fair and sustainable world. Irish Aid, Ireland’s programme for  transnational development, envisages a world where people are empowered to overcome poverty and hunger, and fully realize their rights and potential. Irish Aid in Ethiopia therefore aims to benefit the poorest and most vulnerable sections of society. The Embassy of Ireland, Addis Ababa is seeking to recruit a highly motivated, hardworking, visionary and flexible individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to fill the position of Finance Manager. The Finance Manager supports the Embassy team in providing strong, effective and effective fiscal management and control. S/ he is a member of the Senior Management Team in the Embassy and reports directly to the Ambassador, The successful candidate will be expected to contribute towards improving the wider financial management and internal  fiscal control environment of the Irish Aid programme.

Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Competencies that are essential 

The candidate must have BA in Accounting or related fields from  honored university; 

The candidate must have a recognized professional accounting qualification e.g. ACCA or CIMA. Applicants who aremid-way through an ACCA or CIMA qualification who have particularly strong applicable experience and skills may be considered but the candidate must commit to successfully completing the ACCA or CIMA qualification within 2 years of commencing employment The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a financial management and control role, with at least 3 years at a senior level; 

The candidate must have proficiency in the Microsoft suite applications; advanced  fiscal skills with Microsoft Excel are essential. 

The candidate must have strong  logical and problem  working skills, including managing, interpreting, and manipulating large data sets; 

The candidate must have a proven ability to work under pressure and think laterally in dealing with a wide range of fiscal issues; 

The candidate must have the ability to manage staff and deliver results both independently and as part of a multilateral team; 

The candidate must have strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with staff and partners; 

The  seeker must have a high motivation with a proven ability to work with  minimum supervision and a high standard of  particular integrity; 

The candidate must have an excellent communication and a high standard in English and Amharic, both spoken and written.  

Skills, Experience and Competencies, which are desirable and redundant marks, will be awarded   

former experience with an international organisation; 

Familiarity with development cooperation project funding; and 

Candidate with a strong background and knowledge of government regulations and laws, public sector accounting and fiscal procedures and regulations surrounding international funding is desirable.  

Contract duration The successful candidate will be hired on a 3 year contract with probation period of 60 days  

Periodic Leave Entitlement Annual leave entitlement is 20 working days per annum  

Gross Salary Entry point of scale for Grade ONE (€  30,326.64 per annum) paid in original currency.

Salaries are paid direct to a bank account; therefore, the successful candidate must have a bank account.
