INTRODUCTION
The Danish Refugee Council( DRC), an transnationalnon-governmental organization( NGO), has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997. DRC promotes and supports results to the problems faced by refugees, internally displaced people( IDPs), and migrants. The organization has offices across the region and has been functional in Ethiopia since 2009. With funding from bilateral and multinational donors, DRC is currently implementing a range of activities across Ethiopia, including WASH and shelter provision, youth protection, gender- based violence response, awareness- raising protection monitoring and livelihood support for vulnerable communities affected by conflicts and shocks.
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Protection Coordinator will be responsible for the design, implementation, and collaboration of DRC Ethiopia’s protection monitoring and analysis. The Protection Coordinator will work as part of the DRC Ethiopia Protection team to provide specialized guidance and support across country programming, including specialized inputs to protection analysis, development of a protection monitoring database, and strengthening the use of protection analysis to inform programming and advocacy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provie specialized oversight and supervision for DRC Ethiopia’s protection programming, particularly implementation of protection monitoring and assessment activities
• Develop and ensure adherence to DRC Protection Monitoring SoPs, including through training, coaching, supervision, and programme quality checks
• Support field teams in conducting rapid-fire protection assessments in new areas to identify existing emerging protection needs( general protection; GBV; child protection; and housing, land, and property) while also identifyingmulti-sector needs
• Produce regular protection information management products, including yearly protection monitoring dashboards, country level protection monitoring reports, thematic reports, and flash reports
• Support Protection Manager on dissemination of protection analysis findings and recommendations to DRC Senior Management and internal/ external stakeholders( Protection Cluster, donors, programme teams)
• Provide capacity- building training to protection and other sector response team members on general protection, GBV, and child protection, including data collection methodologies, protection information management, and adherence to protection principles
• Support the development of concept notes and/ or proposals and budgets for unborn protection programming and ensuring applicable protection risk analysis to support project design
• Contribute to the strategic direction of DRC country protection programme through participation in strategy planning meetings and developing strategic documents
• Represent DRC and participate in cluster coordination and other meetings applicable to protection issues, including active participation in the Protection Analysis Working Group, and providing presentations on protection analysis at public and subnational coordination fora.

Job Requirements
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, law, social work, transnational development, or another applicable field from a recognized institution.
• minimal 3 years of experience of field protection experience working with an INGO or UN agency, including a minimum of 1- year experience in protection monitoring or assessments
• Experience with design and implementation of protection interventions, including general protection and technical protection services
• Experience delivering protection monitoring, analysis, and PIM trainings is desirable
• Excellent writing and editing skills for external audiences( including governments and donors)
• Proven commitment to accountability and quality assurance.
• Excellent logical skills.
• Experience with capacity building and organizing and facilitating training and workshops.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective and working relations with staff members and other stakeholders.
• Experience working incross-cultural,multi-sector, insecure, and remote environments.
• Ability to work well under pressure and in adverse conditions.
• Commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures.
• Full proficiency in Microsoft Office; working proficiency in quantitative and qualitative logical tools is preferred
EDUCATION (include certificates, licenses,etc.
• minimal a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, law, social work, international development, or another applicable field from a recognized institution.
LANGUAGE (indicate fluency level)
• Excellent verbal and spoken English and Amharic
• Knowledge of other original languages an asset
