Position 1FARMERS LED IRRIGATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER  

Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the elderly Irrigation and Infrastructure Engineer, the Farmers Led Irrigation and Infrastructure Engineer will assist the Senior Irrigation and Infrastructure Engineer in guiding the overall planning, implementation, and monitoring of infrastructure subprojects. S/ he will be responsible for liaising on the program management unit with the MoA Natural Resource Management Sector; and cover and support that the conditioning carried out in the sector is in agreement with the scope of the program and the implementation manual.  

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Assist the Senior Irrigation and Infrastructure Engineer in supervising the overall planning and implementation of  structure subprojects, including feasibility study and design, tender document preparation, construction supervision, and contract administration; 
  • Closely work with MOA Natural Resources Management sector and Regional PMUs to ensure smooth planning and  perpetration of interventions; 
  • Concoct mechanisms to ensure that design medication and construction implementation of  structure subprojects is in  agreement with agreed  compass, time, cost, and quality; 
  • Support strong  juggernauts for  mindfulness creation and public sensitization to achieve attitudinal change on the farmers-led irrigation development( FLID) approach; 
  • Provide specialized inputs relating  substantially to the planning and  perpetration of growers-led irrigation development;  
  • Support the assessment of opportunities, and challenges to implementing and scaling FLID approach; 
  • Ensure that FLID approach is being  enforced according to the guidelines prepared for this purpose; 
  • Share information, lessons learned, and best- practices on FLID approach amongst public and private sector actors, and smallholder farmers; 
  • Supervise and cover the consultant and contractor work according to the contract agreement 
  • Assist the development of systems and procedures for sustainable O&M of the rehabilitated and  recently constructed small-scale irrigation schemes, small bridges, and market centers; 
  • In collaboration with the applicable institutions, organize and conduct necessary training for the applicable Regional Engineers on feasibility study and design, construction supervision, construction project management, and construction contract administration; 
  • Assist regions in the review of study, design, construction supervision, and construction contract administration of irrigation and other infrastructure subprojects; 
  • Regularly undertake visits to FLID subproject’s  spots, oversee the works and guide the contractors on the activities and works, and provide concrete suggestions and give site-specific recommendations where necessary to contractors; 
  • Review, collect/ consolidate periodic work plans & budgets, and reports prepared by Federal implementing institutions & indigenous PMUs, including implementation schedules and progress reports for the project and 
  • Prepare a detailed daily progress report that should cover all aspects of the  pastoral infrastructure subprojects; 
  • Perform other tasks related to the program as may be necessary.  

JOB REQUIREMENT 

Qualification MSc in Irrigation/ Agricultural/ Water Resources/ Civil/ Rural Engineering or related fields. 

  • Work Experience Minimum of 8 years ’ experience in related work  

Position 2 SENIOR GENDER AND NUTRITION SPECIALIST

  • Deadline Date March 18, 2024  Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the National Program Manager, the Program elderly Gender and Nutrition Specialist is responsible for the overall, planning, mainstreaming, implementation, specialized support, monitoring, and reporting of Gender and Nutrition interventions of the program implemented by different stakeholders of the program at all levels of program implementation. S/ he will be responsible for liaising the program management unit with MOA- Nutrition office and Women and Social Affairs Inclusive Implementation Administrative and Monitoring and supporting that the activities carried out in the sector are by the scope of the program and the implementation manual.  

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Closely work with MOA- Nutrition office and Women and Social Affairs Inclusive Implementation Administrative, other MOA applicable sectors & indigenous PMUs to ensure smooth planning and implementation of I FSRP supported interventions.  
  • Leading and guiding civil implementers, indigenous management Units, and on planning, implementation, follow-up, and reports of activities related MOA- Nutrition office and Women and Social Affairs Inclusive Implementation Administrative. 
  • Facilitate & provide TOT on guidelines &  primers developed by the program. 
  • Assist training needs assessments in line departments to develop applicable training programs for program implementation and strengthening the capacity of implementing agencies. 
  • Assist in Organizing necessary training for the applicable Implementing institution. 

Conduct Regular supervision of project sites, guide implementer on the activities and  give concrete suggestions and give site specific recommendations where necessary and the RPMU/ Implementing Agencies for improvement. 

  • Preparing detailed periodic work plans and budget, implementation schedule and progress reports for the project to ensure effective monitoring and timely project outputs, and regularly update it grounded on situation. 
  • Review, Compile/ consolidate periodic work plans & budgets, and reports prepared by Federal implementing institutions & indigenous PMU. 
  • Assist the NPMU manager in the preparation of discussion papers and any other related documents. 
  • Perform other tasks related to the program as may be necessary  

JOB REQUIREMENT 

  • Qualification The applicable candidate should have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Gender studies, Human Nutrition, Food science, Family Science 
  • Work Experience Minimum 12 years of experience in related work
