Summary  

TheU.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/ Ethiopia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Mail Room Clerk.  

The work schedule for this position is Full Time (44 hours per week)

Start date Candidate must be  suitable to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/ or clearances  instruments or their candidacy may end Supervisory

Position No  Relocation Expenses Reimbursed No  Travel Required Not Required  Duties  Under the direct supervision of the DPO Mail Supervisor, the  peremptory serves as a Politic Post Office( DPO) and Politic Pouch and Mail (DPM) mail clerk with  motorist and pouch/ item tracking duties. The contestant is responsible for the day- to- day operations of the Mission’s unclassified DPO and DPM services, handling of International and original mail for the Mission and its on- compound distribution needs. The incumbent will also periodically assist with Classified Politic Pouch operations, sometimes after working hours, in a liaison capacity with the original airport and customs  officers.  

Qualifications and Evaluations  EXPERIENCE  

A minimum of one year of  executive work experience is required  

EDUCATION  

Completion of high/ secondary school is required.  

LANGUAGE  

Level III (good working knowledge) of English is required and Level III( good working knowledge) of Amharic is required. (These may be tested)  

Skills and Abilities  

Perform DPM and DPO operations  similar as receiving incoming mail and processing  gregarious mail.  

Possess excellent customer service skills.  Be  suitable to physically lift and move heavy pouches and drive large transport vehicles with automatic or homemade transmission.  Maintain a valid 3rd class driver’s license and airport tarmac license.  minimal 5 years of owning a driver’s license. (These may be tested).

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third- Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/ Ethiopia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.  

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.  

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the  tentative offer letter by the HR Office.
