UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories, supporting partner countries to achieve the eradication of poverty, the reduction of inequalities, and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals( SDGs). UNDP has operated in Ethiopia since 1981. Since also, UNDP has concentrated on furnishing Ethiopia with strategic support to make public capacity and enhance the country’s development results in the areas of poverty reduction and profitable growth, popular governance, as well as climate-flexible development. UNDP is currently assisting the Government of Ethiopia( GoE) to overcome its structural challenges as it strives to become a popular, peaceful, and prosperous middle-income country.
Position: Regional Trade Analyst
Education
An advanced university degree( master’s degree or original) in Trade, Economics, Finance, or affiliated fields is required. OR
A first-level university degree( bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above, in combination with a fresh two years of qualifying experience, will be given due consideration instead of the advanced university degree.
Experience
Min. years of applicable work experience/ desired criteria
Applicants with a Master’s degree( or original) in an applicable field of study aren't required to have professional work experience.
Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree( or original) are required to have a minimum of two( 2) years of applicable professional experience at the public and/ or transnational level in the areas of profitable, trade, or finance.
Record of good capacity to extract and analyze data using quantitative( statistical and/ or econometric) methods is an asset;
Previous experience and good knowledge of strategies to support the MSME ecosystem at the public or indigenous level is an asset;
Proven track record of good understanding of the AfCFTA framework is an asset;
Proven track record of good understanding of financing for MSMEs is desired;
Familiarity with working in the African region is an asset;
former experience with the United Nations is an asset.
Required Language( s)
Fluency in English is required.
