Position 1 Child Protection Specialist  

Education  

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, Human rights and public health or in other related discipline. Two additional years of applicable work experience may be accepted in lieu of a master’s degree.  

Experience 

  • At least 8 years of professional experience in GBViE prevention and response in humanitarian settings (with UN agencies and/ or NGOs).   
  • Demonstrated knowledge and working experience in the field of violence against children. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of the guiding principles for GBViE programming and IASC GBV Guidelines is required. 
  • Experience working on large scale donor systems. 
  • Strong planning, project management and budget skills required. 
  • Experience in coordinating with a range of donor, government, UN and NGO stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated skills in planning and facilitating workshops and other capacity- building modalities;
  • Ability to work independently and productively, with multiple stakeholders in a fast- paced terrain. 
  • Flexible work attitude the ability to work productively in a team  terrain and independently, and to handle requests or issues as they arise. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills the ability to successfully and effectively liaise with people in a wide range of functions in amulti-cultural environment. 
  • Strong  logical and writing skills.  

Language requirements 

  • Fluency in English both oral and written. 
  • Excellent  logical, communication, writing and editorial skills in English. 
  • Proficiency in an additional sanctioned United Nations language is an asset.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station, which will be facilitated by UNICEF, is required for IP positions. Appointments are also subject to inoculation( vaccination) requirements, including against SARS- CoV- 2( Covid). Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the applicable department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be cancelled.  

All selected candidates will  suffer rigorous reference and background checks and will be expected to adhere to these standards and principles. Background checks will include the verification of academic credential( s) and employment history. Selected candidates may be required to provide additional information to conduct a background check.  

Government  workers that are considered for employment with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government before taking up an assignment with UNICEF. UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment, without compensation, if a visa or medical clearance is n't obtained, or necessary inoculation requirements are n't met, within a reasonable period for any reason.
