The Corporate Services Officer will assist in the delivery of the crucial strategic commercial priorities at the Embassy. The work will support the ongoing redesign of commercial conditioning at the Embassy, including workflows, templates, and systems.  

Position Commercial Services Officer – HR  

Skills/ Attributes Required 

  • Strong English and Amharic language communication skills (written and spoken).   
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize to meet deadlines, think strategically, and apply judgment and innovation to achieve results. 
  • Ability to think laterally, undertake thorough analysis, and make recommendations based on evidence. 
  • Existing computer literacy in Microsoft programs and SAP finance systems. 
  • High-level interpersonal skills, a sense of initiative strong team and organization skills, and the ability to work with limited supervision.  

Desirable 

  • Tertiary qualifications or related work experience in Human Resources or financial management/ accounting 
  • Demonstrated capability to make and maintain effective  connections( both internally and externally) 
  • Capacity to understand and support knowledge sharing in an organizational environment. 
  • Ability to act in compliance with the Australian Embassy’s Code of Conduct, displaying particular integrity and an honest ethical approach. The key responsibilities of the position include but aren't limited to 
  • Process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations, etc). 
  • Oversee the recruitment processes for all Locally Engaged Staff (LES). 
  • Manage the appointment,- boarding, and departures of Embassy staff. 
  • Manage contract staff employment conditions in line with applicable labor law requirements. 
  • Provide LES advice on, and assist in, the effective management of personnel matters including Terms and Conditions, benefits, compensation, employee relations, performance appraisals, termination processes, and WHS issues. 
  • Update, process, maintain, and report on all HR records such as performance management, employee benefit programs, leave balances, training, LES, and Australian staff medical expenses. 
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements government reporting regulations and DFAT rules and regulations affecting HR functions. 
  • Assist in managing Embassy finances in agreement with DFAT’s financial regulations including,  borderline benefits tax and budget reporting. 
  • Assist in payroll preparation by providing applicable data (absences, bonuses, leaves, etc) and doing net pay calculations. 
  • Raise invoices in SAP for refunds receivables from A-based and LES. 
  • Provide backup support to the full range of Finance Officer tasks. 
  • help in the maintenance, review, and redesign of the record management systems, and ensure that records are maintained by applicable records management policy and guidelines. 
  • Provide backup support to the full range of Consular and Passport tasks.
