Job Description
Transformation has resulted in changes in skills requirements, roles, and numbers of roles required in the new operating model. Marketing and Communications Consultant, Ethiopia Role Purpose The British Council is looking to hire a Marketing and Communications Consultant who'll lead the content development and management of communications of its operations in Ethiopia. The Consultant is expected to ensure a visible presence across different platforms, effectively communicate the organization’s works, support documentation and measurement of media activities, and generate reports to share knowledge with stakeholders. The Adviser will work within the framework of the Country Communications strategy and action plan, collaborating closely with the Regional Senior Marketing Manager.
Main accountabilities
1. Internal & External Marketing, and Communications
• Assist in planning and implementing different politic approaches to increase the visibility of the British Council in Ethiopia based on the Marcomms action plan.
• Identify opportunities to promote the British Council in Ethiopia through events, meetings, and other face- to- face engagements.
• Help produce branded collaterals and promotional materials by coordinating with production houses and agencies.
2. Website and Social Media Management
• Support in ensuring that the British Council Ethiopia website content is comprehensive, up to date, and applicable.
• Create content for social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, for the project’s official accounts.
3. Media Handling and Event Management
• Develop a media placement strategy and implement it, ensuring harmonious coverage of the British Council’s operations in Ethiopia and beyond through public media networks.
• Coordinate media personnel during events and act as the crucial contact for original media.
• Support the planning and delivery of high- level periodic events from a Marcomms perspective.
4. Content Planning nnd Development
• Work with the indigenous senior marketing manager and project teams to agree on dispatches, audiences, and distribution channels.
5. Brand Management
• Ensure brand compliance for the country operation, including marketing collaterals, email signatures, designs,etc.
6. Metrics
• Record and measure all marketing and communications activities according topre-defined KPIs and metrics.
• Generate a yearly report on media engagement, covering both traditional and new media channels.
7. Capacity Development
• Provide assistance to staff using a probative and cooperative approach.
Job Requirement
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
• Applicable Degreee.g. Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or Original level of experience.
Role Specific knowledge and experience
• Significant experience in managing communications within a large and complex organisation or agency
• provable experience in successfully providing expert advice and guidance on internal and external communications
• Experience in managing and mollifying communications pitfalls and issues
• Proven record of editorial experience (i.e. proofreading, translation, knowledge of different content types,etc.)
• provable creative approach to developing, implementing and evaluating communication conditioning
• Background in youth marketing
• provable experience working with agencies PR, events, design, marketing and communications
• Practical experience of using social media to extend reach of an organisation including through campaigns;
• Strong track in marketing and communications monitoring and reporting
• Strong relationships with crucial media outlets in Ethiopia
• Experience commission and placing compelling shorform video
Desirable
• Experience in a global organisation

Consultancy Duration – 1 year
Consultancy fees – ETB 50,000.00 Location – Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Language requirements English and Amharic is mandatory. Proficiency in other original and international languages will be an advantage.
