The Central Statistical Agency is an agency of the government of Ethiopia designated to provide all surveys and censuses for that country used to monitor profitable and social growth, as well as to act as an sanctioned training center in that field. It's part of the Ethiopian Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.
The Central Statistics Agency was established in 1959 under the instruction of the Minister of Trade and Industry with 14 professional staff members. Now the Agency has 2439 full time professionals and 3000 temporary workers, who are involved in different activities due to the range of studies conducted.
The Ethiopian Statistical Service( ESS) is responsible for collecting, processing, and disseminating sanctioned statistical information in Ethiopia. It plays a pivotal role in supporting evidence- based decision- making at colorful levels.
Organizational Structure The ESS operates under the Ministry of Planning and Development and works nearly with the Central Statistics Agency of Ethiopia. It has colorful directorates and branch offices to handle different aspects of statistical work.
Ethiopian Statistical Development Program This program is developed in collaboration with the ESS and aims to enhance the capacity of statistical services in Ethiopia. It emphasizes the importance of accurate and timely data for public development planning. Ethiopian statistical development program (ESDP) is a important tool for guiding the development of public statistics development programs, increasing political and fiscal support for statistics, and ensuring that government can produce the data and statistics needed for planning, monitoring and evaluating.
