The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition( GAIN) is seeking a Finance and executive Assistant to work in our new indigenous office based in Ethiopia, Bahir Dar, Amhara Regional State. The role will see the post holder provide day- to- day financial and executive support to the office, including  crucial internal and external stakeholders. This role will be on a fixed term contract up to 32 months, subject to availability of funding. About GAIN  The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition( GAIN) is a Swiss- based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the mortal suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritional food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritional and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.  

About the role

The Finance and executive Assistant will assist the Regional Project Manager with a wide variety of financial and executive duties to help with the smooth running of the new indigenous office. This vital role will see you handling petty cash, making payments and ensuring all finamcial data and documents are processed and stored filed correctly. The post holder will also be required to aid with the facilitation of workshops and provide high level  executive tasks similar as scheduling travel arrangements and hotel reservations.The post holder will be anticipated to make and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders whilst exercising and demonstrating the ability to maintain confidentiality and trust with sensitive data.  

Key Responsibilities include;  

• Handling Petty Cash fund and making payments after receiving the required approval.  

• Ensuring timely and yearly replenishment of petty cash.  

• Preparing Petty Cash Report and Replenishment Request.  

• Assisting indigenous project team in travel arrangements, hotel reservations, and in- country logistic arrangements.  

• Assisting in handling orders  similar as office supplies and/ or materials for office use and trainings.  

• Responsible for copying, sorting, scanning, and sending documents through carriers.  

Job Requirements  

About You  The ideal candidate should have  provable and proven experience of working in a  fiscal or  executive supporting role within the private or not for profit sector.  former experience supporting  crucial projects and workshops varying in size and scope is  crucial to this role. You'll be adaptable and flexible to the business needs of the office, with strong communication and interpersonal skills that will allow you to answer staff enquiries relating to administration and finance.  

Experience in using QuickBooks, Navision or  analogous accounting software is an advantage.  About our Offer  The starting salary on offer for this role is from ETB,056 – ETB,160( gross) per annum, depending on experience.  GAIN has a fair and competitive salary structure that allows for periodic progression subject to good performance. About the role  The Project Associate will assist the Project Manager with  crucial deliverables for the CASCADE Project which aims to improve malnutrition in Ethiopia through innovative and sustainable models. You'll be working on  instigative projects that will have a wide reaching span across several regions in Africa, including Nigeria, Uganda and Kenya.  The postholders ’ input and contributions will make a  crucial difference in the world of nutrition by providing stakeholders with advice around food based salutary guidelines as well as providing support to the development of the Food Systems Dashboard and other applicable reports.  The post will also see you playing a key and  vital role, ensuring that the monitoring, tracking and documenting of the projects paperwork is archived and stored correctly. The postholder will be expected to quickly develop strong relationships with applicable partners, exploiting synergies within GAIN and with external stakeholders to  insure continued, effective, and timely project delivery.

• Assisting the Project Manager in assessment of existing food environment and implementation status of food and nutrition related policies and strategies  

• Advising crucial stakeholders about the application of Food Based Salutary guideline  

• Providing support in familiarizing healthier diets concepts  

• Supporting the development of Food System dashboard, related reports, Action Plans, and advocacy materials where needed.  

• Providing support in identifying stakeholders for implicit sources of data for food system dashboard indicators and ensure procurement of data, and data quality  

• Supporting to assess indicator data quality and suitability for the Food System Dashboard  

• Keeping track of gender results, ensure the initiative is gender-sensitive, and where  doable, gender- transformative  Job Requirements  About You  The ideal candidate should have  provable experience of project management that spans across different sectors and knowledge systems. previous data analysis using a variety of tools is  crucial to this role, alongside the ability to provide sound advice and knowledge with  crucial findings.  The postholder should have a strong understanding of food systems, nutrition and food security.
