Position 1: WASH Officer  

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE 

  • BSc degree in Environmental health, public health, Hydraulic and/ or Water Resources Engineering, or related field. 5 years of experience in WASH projects with a focus on hygiene promotion activities. 
  • Having experience in community mobilization and working in coordination with HEWs, community levies, and leaders. 
  • NGO/ Private sector experience has a significant advantage. 
  • Excellent team and interpersonal relationship skills, especially in cross-cultural settings, are required. 
  • The ability to take direction, follow procedures, meet deadlines, and work independently and cooperatively with team members is required. 
  • Organized,  dependable, and good communication skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork ability 
  • Proficiency in the Afarigna language.  

Success Factors 

  • Willingness and ability to perform fieldwork and travel to remote areas 
  • Willingness to travel frequently to villages and reside in pastoral areas. 
  • Flexibility and accommodation in grueling conditions. 
  • Hard-working, honest,  devoted, and able to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels – with colleagues, government and military officials, community leaders, and community members

Position 2: Community Accountability Reporting Mechanism Officer (Hotline- operator)  

Knowledge and Experience 

  • Degree in communication; social sciences, development studies, or management. 
  • Experience in operator, and radio operations as well as a certificate in Radio Communications and other social science-related positions preferably in a crisis context is an added advantage. 
  • Strong ability to communicate clearly and impactfully with a range of program participants; and stakeholders including Mercy Corps staff. 
  • At least three to four years of Programme officer-related experience. Community engagement experience is an added advantage.   
  • Currently, Mercy Corps works in different regions of Ethiopia namely, Afar Amhara, Gambela, Oromia, Sidama, Southern Ethiopia, Tigray, and Somali; we're looking for a seeker with Amharic and English language proficiency and fresh writing, speaking, reading, and editing skills of with a minimum of two indigenous languages Skills is mandatory. 
  • Proven ability to keep confidentiality of reported cases. 
  • Good knowledge of the culture of the community that Mercy Corps working in.  
  • Success Factors  Being emphatic, maintaining confidentiality, and patience with the callers and survivors are very important. In addition, acting according to the organization's mission, vision, and policy is vital for this position.

Position 3:Finance Assistant  

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Diploma/ Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related discipline. Compensating Education Experience can be considered. 
  • Three years and more progressive experience in the non-profit organization and mainly experience gained in the INGO is required. 
  • Experience working with USAID/ BHA and EHF grants. 
  • Demonstrated competency with motorized general ledger software 
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly in Excel 
  • Previous management experience and strong organizational skills 
  • Excellent oral and spoken English skills  

SUCCESS FACTORS 

  • Must be confident, self-starter, an independent thinker and have strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, team-oriented 
  • Good computer skills (especially Microsoft Excel, Work, and Outlook) 
  • Ability to interact effectively with international and  public personnel is required; demonstrated ability to work effectively with different group of people 
  • A high professional standard of administration ethics as well as willingness and ability to enforce compliance with Mercy Corps and donor policies and procedures is essential. 
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and process information in support of changing program activities is necessary.  
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral are required.  
  • Demonstrated artistic sensitivity and applicable flexibility. 
  • Emotional maturity and physical stamina. 
  • Demonstrated experience in managing Matrix Reporting 
  • Willing to travel to Mercy Corps field offices and project sites, when required
