UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories supporting partner countries to achieve the eradication of poverty, the reduction of inequalities, and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). More specifically, UNDP supports partner countries in developing policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities, and building resilience to sustain development results. UNDP’s Regional Service Centre for Africa (RSCA), based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia( serving 46 Country Offices insub-Saharan Africa) develops high-quality knowledge and policy products and is the organization’s main interface with indigenous and international bodies similar to the African Union and the Regional Economic Communities.

Education
Enrolled in a Master’s degree program in a recognized, accredited university in the subject areas of economics, public policy, development studies, or a related area
Experience
- Work experience isn't required, but some applicable work experience would be an asset including experience in international development
- Computer skills MS Office proficiency
- Understanding of and former research on issues related to international development similar to the SDGs, and with knowledge of the UN system is an asset.
- Excellent drafting and editing skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively in small and large multi-cultural teams.
- Good Graphic Design, Visual Arts, and/ or Communications skills
Language Requirements
English required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
Intern requirements
- The intern is responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed;
- Where an intern isn't financially supported by any institution or program, similar to a university, government, foundation, or scholarship program, a paycheck intended to help cover introductory daily expenses related to the internship, similar as meals and transportation at the duty station, will be paid by UNDP;
- UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/ or illness or death incurred during the internship;
- The intern must provide proof of enrollment in a health insurance plan;
- Interns aren't staff members and may not represent UNDP in any sanctioned capacity;
