Economic commission Africa new vacancy  ECA’s mission is to deliver ideas and actions for an empowered and transformed Africa; informed by the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063. This position is located at ECA’s Security and Safety Service (SSS). Under the overall command of the Chief of SSS, the Security Officer is required to perform security functions and reports directly to the Security Sergeant or supervising officer in the assigned working area.  

Position 1Security Officer (Four Positions)  

Work Experience  

At least three (3) years of experience in security- related works, in the public or private service areas,  similar as  public security, military, police, private security or in a commercial environment is required. The  minimal years of applicable experience is reduced to one (1) for candidates who possess a first-  position university degree or advanced. Basic computer skills, similar as  introductory knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is desirable. previous experience with the UN system or an international NGO is desirable.  

Languages  

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another  sanctioned United Nations language is an advantage.

Position 2: Security Officer   

Education  High school diploma or equivalent is required. Passing the United Nations Security Officer Test (SOT) administered at the Duty Station is a prerequisite for recruitment consideration for this post.

Position 3 Evaluation Consultant (Multiple Positions)  

Result of Service  The overall objective of the evaluation is to assess as objectively and systematically as possible the performance of the  design vis- à- vis its overall objective as defined in the project document. In addition, it'll identify intended and unintended project results and progress made towards results in the project outcome areas. Specifically, the evaluation will

i) Assess the performance of the design in terms of its relevance, coherence, effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability, impact and mainstreaming of gender,  mortal rights, disability inclusion as well as integrating environmental sustainability considering its goal and objectives.

ii) Identify and document lessons learned, good practices and provide clearly targeted recommendations for improvement for design of similar projects. 

iii) Identify areas of opportunity for unborn systems.

Qualifications/ special skills  

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or original) in evaluation, development economics, social sciences, business/ public administration or related field is required. A first- level university degree in combination with  fresh two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. 7 years of experience evaluating international development interventions  

Languages  English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written language of English is required for this task. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.

Position 4 Property Control and Inventory Assistant
