The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent, humanitarian, non-profit, non-governmental organization that provides assistance, protection, and durable solutions to refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide. The majority of our more than 4000 staff members are public employees in NRC’s projects in over 30 countries in Africa, Asia, America, and Europe. 

Position 1: Finance Officer 

Professional Competencies 
 These are skills, knowledge, and experience that are important for effective performance. 

General professional competencies 
 • Experience working as a Finance Officer in the humanitarian or development sector, in the private sector, or with an original NGO 
 • former experience working in the Somali Region Context is a bonus 
 • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities 
 • Professional knowledge of auditing is a bonus but not essential 
 • Good working knowledge of English is required 

Academic and Professional Qualifications 
 • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance 
 • Minimum of Three years of experience working as a Finance officer in a  philanthropic / recovery/ emergency context 
 • former experience from working in complex and  unpredictable contexts 
 • Computer skills( Common Microsoft Windows and Office applications); 
 • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
 • Ability to organize and prioritize work. 
 • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

 • Knowledge about own leadership skills profile. 
 • Fluency in both spoken and written English.

Position 2: Finance Coordinator 

General professional competencies 
 • minimal 5 years of experience as a Finance Coordinator/ Officer in an INGO or  philanthropic  agency 
 • University degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent is preferred 
 • Experience working in complex and  unpredictable contexts 
 • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities 
 • Knowledge about own leadership skills profile 
 • Solid knowledge of computer software and ultramodern accounting systems. 
 • Fluency in English both written and verbal is a must.

 • Knowledge & experience of working in Agresso accounting system 
 • Knowledge of the context in the Jijiga Area Office 
 • Willing to travel to remote project locations, ability to work flexibly including weekends.

Position 3: Finance Technical Assistant 

General professional competencies for this position 
 • Good written and spoken Somali Good spoken English. 
 • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

Context-related skills, knowledge, and experience 
 • BA in Finance.
