The International Rescue Committee, one of the world’s largest hmanitarian international NGOs, provides relief, rehabilitation, and development support to vulnerable people and communities over 30 countries. We began work in Ethiopia in 2000 in response to severe drought in Ethiopia’s Somali region and are currently providing assistance to Ethiopians and refugees in six regions in Ethiopia, implementing emergency and development programs in health, water and sanitation, advantageous recovery and development( ERD), women’s protection and commission, education, child protection, andmulti-sectoral  exigency response. The IRC has a focus on narrowing the gender gap in humanitarian aid and ensuring that we contribute to gender equality, diversity, and inclusion in both our programs and operations by working to establish a context where our clients( including those from minority groups) enjoy the same rights and opportunities as well as an equal access to services. Position 1 Livelihood Project Officer  

Educational Requirements 

  • MSc/ BSc Degree in Agricultural Economics, General Agriculture, and/ or related agrarian field of study or certification.  
  • Preferred experience & skills 
  • Minimum work experience of 1 year for MSc Degree holders, 2 years for BSc Degree holders 
  • NGO experience is a plus. 
  • Demonstrated experience in humanitarian response, with specific experience in livelihoods and Food security and agrarian development approaches.  
  • Proven agriculture sector experience, or experience supporting smallholder farmers in livelihood recovery.  
  • previous experience working in emergency settings or insecure environments preferred.
  • Strong program/ specialized, team leadership skills, planning, reporting, monitoring, and evaluation skills 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, effective in representation and liaison with external parties 
  • INGO experience required, experience with collaboration systems or advocacy preferable. 
  • Must be able of applying skills and knowledge in a range of capacities, including direct data collection and analysis, implementation, premonitory functions, training, and the transfer of specialized knowledge and leadership skills to others.  
  • Ability of introductory computer skills mainly, MS word, Excel, internet etc.

  • Flexible and suitable to handle pressure well.  

Language Skills
